San Francisco Pt. 3 - Takin' it to the Street!

This is a random photo collection of the streets of San Francisco.

Here was a new community center being built. I liked this whatever it is.

And then here was some street art.

And then some more creative, funny street art on the street where I was staying.

And here's Chuck trying to look like a cool San Franciscan.

And here's a really racist book I found sitting on a newspaper box or something.

And here's the ghetto-ist cash machine I might've ever seen.

And here's Chuck trying to use it (he succeeded, by the way - Go Chuck!).

And here's a guy sitting in his garage.... Weird.

And here's my friend Chris, and pictures of our shoes, too.

And should you ever lose anything in San Francisco, you might want to check this handy lost and found near the corner of Guerero and 22nd.

San Francisco Pt. 2 - Let's Have Sex with Nature!

We went out to The Sutro Baths. I guess they used to be a public bath, and were one of the biggest at the time.

While we were out there, some of Michael's employees were out with photo equipment and cute little outfits and he said they were probably taking MySpace pictures.

Here's one that I thought would be a good photo for Chuck's MySpace.

And here's one for Michael.

And one for Dawn (not very emo).

There was a cool cave nearby.

The ruins of the baths themselves, unfortunately, were just moderately interesting. Having been to the city of Bath, in England, and taking a tour and seeing the ruins of Ancient Roman baths, this paled in comparison. But being on the ocean was unique, so it was a new experience.

Like the rest of San Francisco, there was some grafitti.

And then we saw a tanker, which was kinda cool.

And then just nature in general was pretty.

Adieu, Coco, je vais te souvenir

I'm pretty sure that's french for "farewell, Coco, I will miss you," but I forget (or perhaps never knew) whether the te goes conjugated or the infinitive.

Anyway, there I was, TRANNYSHACKED!!!

On my first night in San Francisco, what I most wanted to do was go see the show at Trannyshack, an ongoing drag night at a bar humorously named The Stud. Fortunately, this was no ordinary night at Trannyshack. No, it was the final show where reigning Ms. Trannyshack, Coco Canal, would be, um, reigning. The upcoming Saturday would be the night for people to decide who the next Ms. Trannyshack would be.

Anyway, since it was Coco's last night, I feel like she was putting on an extra-special show, and the air was tingling with all sorts of emotions.

The first performer of the night was either pretending to be a drugged out freak, or actually was one. Either way, the performance was totally fun and crazy. She was dressed as Dorothy.

She was popping pills and drinking from a full bottle of brown liquor. Her back up dancers were like retards, too!
The next few performers were good, but I'll let the pictures speak for them.

This one obviously had the most serious bod goin' on. It's obvious she's a newbie and really looking to impress the crowd (and also, Heklina said as much).

This one did a very challenging Yma Sumac piece.

Her lip-synching was very impressive. Very fast-paced portuguese.

In Coco Canal's final performance as Ms. Trannyshack 2005, she came out on stage with her tiara and a melancholy song played on the overhead.

As the song continued, different drag queens came out and removed her tiara, her sash, then her wig, her gown, her eyelashes and then her makeup.

When the piece reached its conclusion, it was very quiet and you could tell that although it seemed funny at first, Coco was sad to be going.

I was really glad to have seen the show. I felt like I got to see a special one.
