Who's yer baby?

There's a new found object.

Going to Pretty Girls Make Graves tonight with Ricker.

Went to The Ocean Blue last night at Schuba's. What a blast from the past. It was fun, but it was more nostalgic than entertaining. If I were to have heard The Ocean Blue for the first time today, I don't think I'd be into them. It all seems like weird throwback naive music. My ideal self admires the naivete of their music. It's all about goodness and art and literature and I find that extremely laudable. I guess I'm just a little cynical and so I don't gravitate toward it naturally. Fortunately in my youth I was open to it, because it was a fun experience last night. Got to be right up to the stage and the guys look pretty much the same except they're all a little older. Some of the most innocuous looking musicians I've ever seen.

Some band called The Owls opened and I was expecting to see Tim Kinsella and the ol' Cap'n Jazz gang, whom I all like, but thought it was kind of strange. Turns out there's a Minneapolis version of The Owls, and they're nothing like the Chicago brand. Minneapolis Owls consist of two girls and two guys. They all switch around their instruments a lot, but all of the music isn't too difficult, so it wasn't that impressive of a feat. A couple times I thought they were either harmonizing poorly or being purposely dissonant. Once I thought a guitar was out of tune, even though he JUST tuned it and was satisfied with the sound. Like, again, purposely dissonant for like the whole song, which was weird cuz they were like this pretty kind of folksy band. I almost liked them enough to buy something, but I didn't. I also didn't buy the new Ocean Blue, but Claude did, which should tell you PLENTY (or, nothing if you don't know Claude).

Getting old and not realizing it.

There's a new dream.

The other day I was driving up Sheffield around DePaul University. I was looking at the young fresh college students going about their school days in their typical college garbs, such as shorts, sandals, sweathirts, sweatpants...you know, just ugly, fashionless shit. But the thing I noticed mostly was how YOUNG they all looked. They looked like high-schoolers. Is this an aspect of getting older? How come no one told me so? This should be one of those things you hear about. I mean, I would have guessed that high schoolers would always looked young, and the older I got the more distant they would seem, but I always thought they would look like high-schoolers, and that college kids would always look like college kids. Does this mean I'm going to start seeing high-schoolers and be thinking they're junior high kids?

* * * * *

Well, we just had some Blinde reps in the store and drank some Corona's and picked up some new glasses for the shop. Pretty fun day at work.

Seek and Ye Shall Find

Wow. In the past three days my statistics counter tells me that 5 different searches have brought people to my site looking for contemporary artists about whom I've written at one time or another. Also, since the beginning of the month several people have looked up bands and found me. I guess it feels a little good to be writing about something that people are seemingly interested in. I feel like I'm contributing to the cultural community at large. Perhaps all those people were just googling themselves. Who knows? Not me. See, the sucky thing about this is what I'd really like is the occasional comment from passersby (you know, like how what's-her-name from Sex and the City thanked passersby? I want to be able to do that). Anway, that's all about that.

I'm about to post a new dream sequence from last night.

I'm off work today and looking for a new apartment. Wish me luck.

Excited about Pretty Girls Make Graves with Rick this weekend.

what's it called that they make fences with?

A post.

That's what I'm making.

Or, I made one. It's on my reading site. Go check it out.

Is it fixed?

Last time I thought I fixed it, it kinda broke again.

Any Dreamweaver fanatics out there got suggestions as to why things suddenly broke down and one has to scroll right to view some of my pages?

Anyway, I wrote a short paragraph about Chris Ware on my reading blog.

Hopefully there will be more consistent postings in the weeks to come.

Oh, and I've added comment capability to the dream blog.
